Peking, November 19, 1918.

I have just received a letter from Wai-wu Pu informing me that at a Cabinet meeting this morning it was decided to burn, on a date to be arranged, the Shanghai opium stocks publicly, in presence of Chinese and foreign officials anil gentry. Amount is stated to be 1,200 odd chests, 300 chests having already been sold.
